<aside> 📝 This is part of my 30-post speed writing goal I’m calling my Dry Run. Judge me not for my quality, but that I wrote this at all. More here: Writing: A “Dry Run”

Hockey fans, SportsCenter fans, and Chicken Parm fans. Those are probably the three main groups of people who follow John Buccigross on Twitter. I’m not sure when it started, but it feels like the Chicken Parm fans are taking over entirely.

If you don’t follow him (unfortunately for you), Bucci is an ESPN anchor and prolific tweeter. He hosts SportsCenter, calls NHL and NCAA hockey games, and has built up a (somehow) successful side hustle slinging baseball caps that misspell the name of his favorite sport. I’ve followed him for years.

Between his TV appearances, Bucci’s marinara mitts have been churning out tweets on one particular subject since 2009: Chicken Parmesan, the Italian-American fried-meat-tomato-sauce-and-pasta classic.

“hey @buccigross Rate my Parm”

At this point, you wouldn’t know his profession from reading his tweets. You’d assume he’s a retired guy who loves chicken parm. His followers are constantly tweeting at him, asking him to rate their parms. And he does! He takes a look at one picture of their parm and goes off—usually through some sort of hockey metaphor.

Translation: “parm looks solid.”

He’ll even rate the parms from restaurants he visits. If he has an especially good one, you’ll hear about it.

The other thing users are constantly asking @buccigross? Parm recommendations. “Where’s the best parm in X city?” These don’t always get answered (he’s got a job) but sometimes they do. Some of Bucci’s favorite parms are known, buried in a sea of 10,000 tweets.

If only there were a way to find them?? (You might see where I’m going with this)

That’s right, I’m here to make you a list of Bucci-approved Chicken Parmesans. If you’re ever in say, Phoenix, and need to know where to get a parm, there should be a website that you can visit to see Bucci’s list (Natalino on Bell Rd, by the way).

How am I going about this?

  1. I’ve pulled a list of every tweet Bucci has ever sent that includes the word “parm” (501 times, going back to June 1, 2009… if you asked)

IMPORTANT: This list unfortunately doesn’t include Bucci’s replies/QTs to tweets that had the word “parm”.

I’m sure someone once asked him something like “What do you think of the parm at Joe’s in Cleveland” and he replied to say “Joe’s is a pure sniper..you don’t even know the shot’s coming and suddenly there’s a water bottle lid in the rafters..Top shelf but underrated like a Marcel Dionne wrister.”

Hypothetical Joe’s should be on the list, but if Bucci himself didn’t say “parm” in his tweet I don’t have it, so if you find any of these tweets just tag me (I’m @_konsella) and I’ll put it on the site.
